Some thoughts on the recent judicial election in Wisconsin:- David Prosser might be the person made happiest by the found votes, but a number of people in Palm Beach County, Florida, might not be far behind.
 - To the extent that this was a "referendum" on the recent struggles by state unions to retain their privileges, the result is not a binary one: margin of victory is meaningful, and the margin of victory is well under 1%. I'm not saying that you don't try to get things done, but recognize that political capital is scarce, and that there is likely to be a substantial constituency for appearing reasonable, and there is progress to be made in the direction of clearly-reasonable. (In particular: the state was withholding union dues on the union's behalf? No, of course you can't have that.)
I thought there was something else.
