Idle thoughts of a relatively libertarian Republican in Cambridge, MA, and whomever he invites. Mostly political.

In football, in order to validly intercept a pass, you have to catch the pass and establish yourself in bounds by touching the ground. (Some details vary from league to league, but the basics are the same.) On the other hand, even if you're outside the field of play, you don't count as out-of-bounds until you have touched the ground; if you leap from in bounds and catch the ball on the other side of the line, you aren't really out of bounds until you land. This means that you can still pitch the ball to a teammate who is in bounds as long as you do it before hitting the ground.Labels: sports
