Idle thoughts of a relatively libertarian Republican in Cambridge, MA, and whomever he invites. Mostly political.

Maybe I'm naive, but I don't think there's much of an Islamist threat in the greater Boston area, at least so far. Yes, nine or ten of the 9/11 terrorists flew out of our airport, but I think someone who, for example, desecrated a Koran around here would be relatively safe. As such, I'd think of such a person as a jerk. I don't think offending for the sake of offending is a positive, unless, of course, you're offending someone who causes offense for the sake of offending. Annoy those who annoy the bourgeoisie!

Still, I'm cheering on this guy, who is taking a stand by taking a risk. I can only roll my eyes so many times at idiot kids talking about "speaking truth to power" by spouting left-wing cant with nothing at risk. But it's more important to support a culture in which being a jerk won't get you killed than to support a culture in which being a jerk is frowned on. So Geert Wilders has my support.
