Idle thoughts of a relatively libertarian Republican in Cambridge, MA, and whomever he invites. Mostly political.
"A strong conviction that something must be done is the parent of many bad measures." -- Daniel Webster

I saw a news tease the last night that President Bush had said there would be peace in the middle east by the end of his presidency. "Why on earth would he even say something like that?" I wondered. I then saw the clip from which this reportage was presumably derived: he said there would be a treaty signed by the end of his term. That seems within the realm of reason. Hamas, Fatah, and the Palestinian Authority are often willing to sign treaties; its the not-murdering-innocent-people bit that perpetually gives them trouble.
