I've heard rumors that John Edwards and Barack Obama have serious policy proposals, but when I hear them speak, this is the sort of thing that usually comes out. All politicians simplify their proposals for populist-sounding soundbites, of course. But their thinking has seemed unusually simplistic, even for politicians giving speeches.
