Get ready for an onslaught of new materials in a few years, born from a [warning: this links to a PDF - SJ] recent MIT brainwave that promises to accelerate theoretical material science considerably. The research team, led by Professor Gerbrand Ceder of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, applied data mining techniques to a large database of known material properties to produce candidate crystal structures for in-depth quantum physics modeling.
