Idle thoughts of a relatively libertarian Republican in Cambridge, MA, and whomever he invites. Mostly political.

Wednesday, June 21, 2006 :::
Those of you who live in sane states may not have heard about this, but the state senator who represents the district a block north of here has proposed a measure to ban fluff from schools. No, that doesn't mean the peace commission could no longer teach seminars — he's opposing marshmallow fluff in school lunches.
This is, at best, aiming at a particular example of a general problem which should be handled at a more local level than the state legislature. But it seems to me to be less harmful than most of what the legislature spends its time doing, so I support this use of their time.
Ah, but marshmallow fluff is a local product. So some other idiot with too much time on his hands esteemed member of the Great and General Court has proposed that the peanut butter and fluff sandwich be the official sandwich of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. My position is the same: whatever it takes to keep them off the streets.
Well, I guess there's more backlash. I'll probably be relying on Matt Margolis to keep me up to speed on this matter. In the meantime, I exhort my fellow residents of Massachusetts to call their legislators and urge them to support unlimited debate.
