I went to a talk on oil today. I'm pretty well sold on the idea that oil prices are going to get higher until consumer behavior changes.

Incidentally, tomorrow is the twentieth anniversary of Chernobyl. Oil doesn't constitute all that much electricity production these days, and nuclear-powered cars aren't in the near future. Biofuels are gaining some attention, but are probably not going to help a lot within the next couple years. Hybrids, smaller cars, and simply driving less are probably going to have to do it if prices are to come down in the next few years.

What do you know about biofuels? My understanding was that $75/barrel of oil was right around where those would become profitable using current technology.
I think I've heard lower numbers, but there seems to be some fear committing to a project and then having prices going lower. Me, I know ways around this problem, but the folks I've seen on TV seem not to.
By the way, I personally have pegged fusion at $200 a barrel, but I'm not an expert. More of one than 98% of the population, but not enough of one.
