I caught a bit of The Barefoot Contessa last night on TV. Humphrey Bogart's character, narrating, notes that a difference between the movies and real life is that a script has to make sense.
In case you didn't hear, the infamous Cynthia McKinney made her way back into the news this week by hitting a cop. Apparently, members of Congress are allowed to enter house office buildings without going through security. She, therefore, walked around security, but she wasn't wearing her pin identifying her as a member of Congress. A police officer asked her to stop a few times before grabbing her, at which point she hit him.
She had a press conference a day or two after the incident. Here's her lawyer:Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, like thousands of average Americans across this country, is, too, a victim of the excessive use of force by law enforcement officials because of how she looks and the color of her skin. Ms. McKinney is just a victim of being in Congress while black. This is not a movie. I got the quote from Powerline.
