I once read a report of a police strike in the early seventies in New Mexico during which the crime rate went down; this was partly attributed to the pervasive carrying of handguns.

I heard on Chicago Tonight the other night that the last major widespread doctors' strike was in Israel in 2000, and that the mortality rate dropped. There's a problem with trying to use a strike to demonstrate how important you are; it might turn out that you're not.
