Mr. Rogers is dead, and if there's anything I expect the NYTimes still to do well, it's obituaries.A friend who grew up near Pittsburgh tells me that Mr. Rogers once had his car stolen from in front of his house. The local papers made this a big story; for the ultimate nice guy to have his car stolen was emblematic of the decay of society. The next morning, the car was back in front of his house with a note reading, "Sorry, Mr. Rogers; we didn't realize it was yours."
Even car thieves don't steal from friends.
