The ultimate conclusions are Wilsonian, actually; that we need to extirpate the threat by spreading liberal democracy, or in any case its most fundamental precepts:In particular, the political and economic repression that is so sadly commonplace in Muslim countries is a breeding ground for Islamist extremism, and thus a direct threat to the security of the United States. Over the coming years and decades, therefore, U.S. policy should support the rollback of chaos and misrule and the advance of liberal democracy throughout the region.
