I lived in Illinois when Pat Quinn was elected lieutenant governor in 2004, and I may have mentioned this on some previous occasion, but I think he's an upstanding, well-meaning, naive idiot who might, therefore, have had some of the most important qualifications to be governor of a state whose previous two governors are in jail for corruption. As of late next year, however, it seems likely that competence will count for more. I wish Quinn much happiness far away from power as soon as reasonably possible.
