Idle thoughts of a relatively libertarian Republican in Cambridge, MA, and whomever he invites. Mostly political.

"A strong conviction that something must be done is the parent of many bad measures."

Rand Paul has been declared the winner by the major networks. So have Republicans in Ohio and Indiana (as well as DeMint and Leahy).

Meanwhile, in Alaska,

Soon her oldest son, Nic, 19, returned with the purse and he, Ms. Murkowski and her husband, Verne Martell, went to vote.

“Hon, how do you spell your last name?” Mr. Martell said aloud, joking from within his voting booth.

Update: Marco Rubio wins in Florida. I'm not going to keep updating this all night, but you're not getting your news here, anyway, so that's okay.

Update: Connecticut and West Virginia to the Democrats, Arkansas to the Republicans. (All were previously Democrats.)

Update: ABC seems to have joined Fox in calling the House for the Republicans. With 9 seats currently held by Democrats and 3 by Republicans still out, Republicans would break even in the Senate if they lose all 12. (They won't.)

CT didn't surprise me in the least, but I was disappointed that it was called so quickly.
