Idle thoughts of a relatively libertarian Republican in Cambridge, MA, and whomever he invites. Mostly political.

I don't understand the fear that some people have of the prospect that the House will go Republican and the Democrats will only have a slight majority in the Senate. I can understand someone being disappointed that wildly unpopular left-wing legislation will no longer be able to be pushed through on party-line votes, but I would think actual fear would be limited to the other side. One-party government can be scary to supporters of the other party or even those who simply support checks and balances, but divided government? What's the concern -- that Congress won't be able to pass a budget?
