I'm always wary of lumping together people into groups — "consumer advocates" — and then implying hypocrisy when it may be some of that group making noise about one thing and others making the opposite complaint. Still, many of the "consumer advocate" types do these sorts of groupings and implications, so I'll go so far as to note that anyone who is complaining about both things is being inconsistent, and that, even if there are no such people, no policy is going to please everyone, even everyone who might thought to be on the same side of issues.
