Roger Simon:You want to have some ideology to hang onto, some method of organizing everything, but the moment you settle on one thing, if you're even partially awake, it kicks you in the head. Similarly, in the social sciences, you should believe in your models, but you shouldn't believe in them too much. (In the hard sciences, you can believe in them a lot more.)
